Welcome to The Quilt Store Community Update!

It's October! Colder weather is right around the corner and that means more quilting for lots of folks. Whether you like the cold weather or not, we can at least agree more quilting is always the right answer! 

This month we are kicking off our 4th annual Second Saturday Mystery Skill Builder! This year's skill builder quilt is a choose-your-own-adventure with bright feature fabrics with your choice of a light or a dark background. If you're not on board yet, click here to learn more and sign up---we are 1 week away!! 

Also this month is our "Mystery At Twilight: Halloween Edition" event.  Dawna and Fran are again bringing you a fabulously spooky project over 2 fun nights! Check out the details here, and sign up before it's TOO LATE!

Beginning Next Saturday--October 11th! 2025-2026 2nd Saturday Mystery Skill Builder "Choose Your Own Adventure"! 

We are only 1 week away from kicking off our 4th Annual Mystery Skill-builder BOM! Dawna, the owner of The Quilt Store, and her Mom "Mama Fran," owner of Village Dry Goods in UT, design a fabulous mystery sampler quilt each year, exclusive to the two shops. This is an opportunity to not only complete a beautiful surprise, but to grow as a quilter and learn new tools and techniques, which are presented each month at The Quilt Store from October to June.

Gravity BOM -- First month available now!  

Isn't she GORGEOUS!? Featuring our new Confetti Cottons, "Gravity" highlights these solids in all their rainbow glory! Each month, for 10 months, you construct 2 blocks that are alike in 2 different color ways, making each step easy and attainable. If you need additional support, or if you like to sew with friends, The Quilt Store is also offering a monthly Gravity Club where Sarah S. will help you with rulers and troubleshooting so your quilt turns out just the way you want it. Mystery at Twilight: Halloween Edition -- 2 nights: October 23rd & 24th from 5:30-8:30pm

Our Head Witch, Dawna, and her "Spooky" Mama Fran, invite you to join them for two fightening nights of tricks and treats, as they spin a web of clues to craft one fabulous mystery quilt.... straight from the twisted minds of Dawna and Fran!

Participants can ?Pick their Poison? and choose their Mystery at Twilight Quilt Kit--a Modern color palette or a Traditional color palette (pictured). Kits can be purchased now, and will be ready to pick up soon. They include the fabric for the mystery top and binding, thread sold seperately.

Quilt and Care Together

Please join our charity quilting circle "Quilt and Care Together," benefiting ABC Quilts for Kids. Our next Sew Day is October 25th from 10-3pm at North Metro Church.

If you can't make it to our sew day, but would still like to help, please stop by The Quilt Store on Thursday October 9th or October 23rd to pick up free, pre-packaged materials to piece a donation quilt top (or 2). Finished tops can be returned to the store at your convenience.

 Gravity Club--3rd Thursday (Oct 16th) from 1:30-4:30pm

Join Sarah Silvers and other Gravity BOM participants to complete the Gravity Quilt! This club is sold individually each month; please join us for one month or all of the months! Scrap School--Treat Totes & Holiday Gift Bags -- October 15th, 10am-1pm

At this month’s Scrap School learn how to make 3 kinds of gift bags - great for Halloween Trick or Treating, or for Holiday gift giving. Use the scrap fabrics provided in class or bring your own scraps and orphan blocks. Bring scraps of fabric for Christmas, Hanukah, and Halloween themes, or just whatever you like to make a gift bag great for Birthday, Wedding, or Baby gifts. 

Scrap School (typically every 3rd Wednesday of the month) will present a new way to use up scraps. You can choose to take one class or several, but either way, you'll see your scraps as opportunity, instead of waste! Learn more and sign up here!

NEW! Learning How to Drive- Machine Sewing for Beginners- October 18th from 2-5pm 

PEDAL TO THE METAL!! This class is like driver's ed for sewing with a sewing machine. Learn how to use your sewing machine for the first time or to refresh your memory. Patten will walk you through all of the parts of your machine and how to use the tools that came with your machine. You'll also make a little project to practice what you've learned!  Ready to get started? Sign up here! 

Advanced Hand Embroidery -- October 25th from 2pm-5pm

Cheryl will go beyond the basics as you learn more advanced stitches like: the satin stitch, the fly stitch, bullion stitch and more! Learn more and sign up here! 

Featherweight Care- October 23rd 1:30-3:30pm

These classic little workhorses are a favorite machine among sewists. If you're lucky enough to own a vintage featherweight, it's important to know how to care for it so it will continue to run for years to come! Come join Chanel and her Featherweight Friend, Al, as they teach you the ins and outs of maintaining your Featherweight Friend.  Sign up here! 

NEW! Seasonal Greeting Card Class- October 29th 10am-1pm


Create beautiful, handmade greeting cards, perfect to give around the holiday season! In this class you'll learn how to sew raw edge applique using a blanket or zigzag stitch on your machine. By the end of class you'll have a collection of handmade, quilted greeting cards to share with loved ones! Bring a friend, and join us for a fun and relaxing, creative experience. Sign up here! 

NEW! T-Shirt Quilts, a Step-by-Step Lecture -- October 30th from 3pm-5pm 

We all have tshirts from fun activities, school sports, concerts, clubs, and more!  Maybe we want to preserve the clothing of a loved one who has passed, or remember our youth. Whatever your reason, T-shirt quilts are great souvenirs and great ways to hold on to precious memories.  

Sarah will show you everything you need to know about how to make awesome quilts from clothing. You'll walk away from this lecture with confidence to start your own Tshirt Quilt!  To sign up, click here.

Flawless Binding -- November 1st from 2pm-5pm

Sewing binding is easier than you think! Join Jo to learn how to complete your quilts with several flawless binding techniques that will help you put the finishing touch on any quilt. Sign up here!

POPULAR! Beginning Quilting Class -- 4 Class Series-- November 22nd, December 6th, December 20th, and January 3rd from 9am-1:30pm.

Do you want to learn the art of Quilting?!  In this class you will learn how to pick fabrics for your quilt, use a rotary cutter for accurate cutting and sew your quilt together with a quarter inch seam. You will finish the class with a completed quilt top and ideas to finish your quilt. Reserve your spot and learn more here! 

Scrap School--Scrappy Baskets-- November 19 from 10am-12pm

At November's Scrap School, learn to turn your scraps into something useful--Scrappy Baskets! Sara will teach you how to make various size and shaped baskets from whatever scraps you have. Use them to organize your spaces or turn them into gift baskets for your favorite people! Sara will help you explore colors, textures, and design in this fun, and useful, class!

NEW! Hexi Stripe Quilt Class--November 22nd from 1:30-5pm

Come make this fun quilt with us! In the Hexi Stripe Quilt Class you'll learn an innovative way to make hexagon magic using a 60 degree ruler and strips of fabric.  Jo will show you how! Learn more and sign up here.

Beginning Foundation Paper Piecing Class -- November 29th from 10am-12pm

 

Lacey loves to paper piece and is so excited to teach you! Foundation paper piecing is a great method to achieve perfect points and intricate designs. This class is perfect for beginners or anyone who needs a refresher.  Learn More and Sign Up Here!

Cancellation and Refund Policy: All classes have a 72 hour cancellation policy for a full refund. If a cancellation needs to occur within the 72 hour window (we know life happens!), we will only refund if we are able to fill your spot with someone on our waitlist. No refunds on cut fabric, kits, books, patterns, or pantographs. Thank you for your understanding!

Current standard Longarm Quilting service turn-around time is approximately 8 weeks! Please consider our turn times as you add holiday quilts to our queue.
