The Quilt Store

String Quilt Class

I have been inspired as much as my students have been on the simplicity and designs you can create with this quilt.
This is the easiest quilt you will ever make, even though it looks so complicated!!! And.....you don't need a pattern! Use your left over fabrics, to create 1 of a kind masterpiece! You are encouraged to use what you have in your stash! You will be amazed on how they will all go together!
Not alot of stash, no problem....just purchase small widths of fabric and have shop cut for you. Or purchase some 6 packs from The Quilt Store. The more fabrics the scrappier it will be.
First Class.... you can cut muslin, (if you haven't already done before class) Cut your muslin square 1/2" larger than the size ruler you use! You will learn how to sew your strips on the muslin squares, and trim these up. Have an idea on how big you want your quilt to be ( *9.5" sq will finish 9") if 72"x90" quilt you will need 80 blocks. You'll start making your blocks and trimming in class. Then at home, make as many blocks as you want for the size quilt you want, and have ready for the next class.

Second Class...Bring your finished blocks, you will play and be inspired on how many different ways you can lay your blocks out into different designs. Choose the design you want, to create your own masterpiece!

Requirements: For Class you will need: ⦁     sewing machine, thread (good way to use leftover thread and partially filled bobbins from other projects!) rotary cutter, scissors etc ⦁     square rule, can use any square ruler to determine how large your blocks will be, (I like 9.5" ruler * see note under first class) ⦁     muslin.... cut into squares 1/2" larger than ruler size (10" if 9.5" ruler) ⦁     strips of fabric from your stash cut into widths from 1.25" to 3" (vary the sizes of your widths) strips and be different lengths, (need to be at least 5" in length) can use strips that are the entire length of fabric, and trim as you go. I put my strips in a plastic tub, and pull from tub as I sew. Don't worry about having them organized in any way!
