Intro to Machine Quilting - Straight Lines
Quilting with straight lines can be intriguing and effective! Come learn some basics about machine quilting using your machine’s walking foot. We’ll make a quilt sandwich and you’ll gain insight into ways to make effective, simple quilting patterns using just straight-line quilting. Learn how to look at blocks – and a quilt – to break the quilting into manageable chunks to make quilting on your domestic machine more simple. This is an introductory class and a beginning machine quilting skills class.
Requirements:
- Domestic machine in good working order.
- Walking foot and any other accessories to use as a guide for sewing straight lines (know how to attach your walking foot, prior to class; consult your Owner’s Manual for information)
- Thread (and thread color) of your choice (I prefer Aurifil, 50 wt)
- 36” x 36” fabric square, batting that is 4” larger than your top square, backing that is 4” larger than your top square (a solid fabric on top will help you see your work and use it for reference later)
- Marking tools (water soluble or heat disappearing)
- Pins, spray adhesives, or power adhesives for “basting” your quilt sandwich together
- Machine needle 90/14 or 80/12
- Scissors and other general sewing machine essentials needed for sewing
- 24” x 6” ruler
**All Classes have a 72 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations within 72 hours of the class date will not be refunded unless the seat can be filled by the waitlist.
