Scrap Crumb Blocks (Crazy Quilt Style)

Explore making “Scrap Crumb Blocks.” Learn how to make colorful, cheerful, “crazy quilt” style quilt blocks without a pattern, and without measurements, all from the “crumbs” of fabric scraps you already have.

Feeling stuck in a creative rut? Gather a handful of fabric scraps and give yourself permission to play!

Short on time, funds, or energy? Sew some low-pressure, NO-math, crazy-style quilt blocks, using the leftover fabric already in your stash.

Saturday May 18th, 1-4

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must be familiar with basic functions on your sewing machine, or comfortable hand-sewing seams.
Requirements: Bring your own sewing machine (with its power cord and a fresh needle, OR bring basic hand-sewing supplies), a spool of cotton thread, scissors, and 1 or 2 sandwich-size baggies loosely stuffed with cotton fabric scraps (some of your fabric scraps will be swapped with your classmates). Fabric pieces as small as 1" wide will work, and leftover triangles, narrow strips, and odd shapes are welcome. If you don't have small scraps, bring 3-5 "fat quarters" or a handful of 2.5" fabric strips in a variety of colors. OPTIONAL: Rotary cutter, small cutting mat, and a square ruler (6.5 inch or smaller) will be useful, but are NOT required.
