Beginning Quilting Class
You will learn how to pick fabrics for your quilt, use a rotary cutter for accurate cutting and sew your quilt together with a quarter inch seam. You will finish the class with a completed quilt top with ideas how to finish it.
Class supplies:
Book: Start Quilting 3rd Edition by Alex Anderson
- Scissors
- Rotary Cutter
- Small Cutting Mat
- Seam Ripper
- Straight Pins
- Rulers : 6 1/2” square AND 6 1/2 x 24” (some available for use during class)
- Sewing Machine in good working order (Please bring all cords, foot pedal, sewing machine needles and several bobbins, sewing machine manual)

Fabric requirements for sample quilt (40.5 x 40.5) on page 41 of class book:
- 1 yard outer border (Should be your focus material, and this includes enough to also be used in the Main Body)
- ¼ yard for inner border
- Main body - Minimum 8 Fat quarters in a mix of Dark, medium, light and neutral OR 5-6 cuts of 1/3 yard each in a mix of dark, medium, light and neutral.
- 3/8 yard for binding
- 1 ¼ yard for backing (Optional)

Things to do before class:
- Know how to operate your sewing machine
- Purchase supplies and fabric prior to your first class
- Read pages 1-15 in your class book, "Start Quilting."
**All Classes have a 72 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations within 72 hours of the class date will not be refunded unless the seat can be filled by the waitlist.
**Waitlists: Joining a waitlist ONLY means you agree to receive an automatic emailed response when a spot opens. It does not guarantee you will be in the class or that you will have first right of refusal. The seat will be filled by the first person (whether they are on a waitlist or not) to pay for that seat. Waitlists only apply to cancellations for that date/time, not future listings of the same class.
